Job description

Job Title: Industrial and Agricultural Electrician

Job Description

This role focuses on electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in industrial, agricultural, and commercial environments, including dairies, supermarkets, and occasional new residential projects. You will handle a wide range of electrical tasks, from conduit work and wiring to motor controls and PLC troubleshooting, and you will contribute as a versatile, well-rounded electrician within a close-knit team.

Responsibilities

  • Install, bend, thread, and run various types of conduit, including EMT and OCAL, to support industrial and agricultural electrical systems.
  • Pull wire and install electrical fixtures, ensuring safe, code-compliant, and neat installations.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics and diagrams to complete installations and troubleshoot issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor controls and related control circuits to maintain reliable operation of industrial and agricultural equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in industrial and commercial settings such as dairies and supermarkets.
  • Perform electrical work in new residential projects as needed, adapting to different environments and requirements.
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment to perform pipe bending, conduit bending, and threading with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with a team of electricians, supporting teammates and sharing knowledge to complete projects safely and on schedule.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements while working on industrial, agricultural, commercial, and residential sites.
  • Take on a full range of duties, avoiding over-specialization, and assist wherever needed on the job site.
  • Participate in training and on-the-job learning opportunities to expand skills in areas such as controls, conduit work, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a professional driving record consistent with company and regulatory standards when traveling to job sites.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a well-rounded electrician with exposure to industrial and commercial environments.
  • Ability to perform pipe bending, conduit bending, and threading for EMT and OCAL conduit.
  • Proficiency in pulling wire and installing electrical fixtures in a variety of settings.
  • Hands-on experience with motor controls, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Experience servicing industrial and commercial facilities, including dairies and supermarkets.
  • Possession of an ET or Journeyman Card.
  • Clean DMV report with minimal points and no DUI.
  • Willingness to perform a wide range of electrical tasks rather than specializing in a single area.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving electrical issues efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team of electricians in a field-based environment.

Work Environment

You will work primarily on industrial and dairy job sites, with additional assignments in commercial settings such as supermarkets and occasional new residential projects. The role involves field-based work alongside a team of about five other electricians in a close-knit, respectful environment where coworkers treat each other like family. The position typically includes significant overtime, with six days per week and days often extending beyond standard eight-hour shifts. Daily tasks involve working with EMT and OCAL conduit, performing pipe bending, threading, and conduit runs, as well as installing and troubleshooting electrical systems in active industrial and agricultural facilities.
