What is a temporary instructor?

A Temporary Instructor is an educator hired for a limited period, often to fill in for regular faculty on leave or to cover short-term teaching needs. These positions may last for a semester, academic year, or other defined timeframes, and typically focus on teaching rather than research. Temporary Instructors are found at colleges, universities, and sometimes in K-12 schools, and they usually have qualifications similar to full-time faculty. Their contracts do not guarantee long-term employment, but they play an important role in ensuring continuity of instruction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary instructor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary Instructor, you typically need a relevant academic degree, subject matter expertise, and experience in teaching or training environments. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), classroom technology, and curriculum development tools is often necessary.
