Driver Education And Traffic Safety Education Teacher

Prepares the drivers training vehicle and its occupants for safe and efficient travel. Instructs students to comply with all regulations pertaining to driving and the necessary skills to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently. Prepares the students to identify, predict, and respond according to urban and rural driving environments. Instruct and assess students for the purpose of developing driving skills. Maintains and prepares all necessary records and reports (e.g. student behavior concerns, maintenance issue for vehicle, etc.) Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.

Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for art instruction. Conducts ongoing assessment of student skills and learning; Demonstrates techniques in driver and traffic safety. Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time. Evaluates each pupil's performance and growth. Provides instruction and in-car training in all aspects of driver and traffic safety education. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and in automobile. Coordinates with other school professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, art materials, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment Use standard office equipment such as; personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Use of automobile and related traffic safety materials. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Work in standard offic, school building, an in-car environments.

Certification/License: Delaware State Certification as a Driver Education and Traffic Safety Education Teacher or as required for position. Information about Delaware Certification/Licensure can be found on the Delaware Department of Education website.

Education Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
