Job description


LOG Surgery Center (LOG) is seeking to hire a Front Office Coordinator, to join our great team of professionals.

This is a temporary, full-time position with an initial commitment of approximately three (3) months. During this period, the employee will be expected to work a standard full-time schedule and fully engage in all assigned responsibilities associated with the role.

Upon successful completion of the initial three-month term, there may be an opportunity for continued employment in a per diem capacity, depending on organizational needs, performance, and mutual agreement. In a per diem arrangement, the candidate would transition from a fixed full-time schedule to working on an as-needed basis, providing flexible support to the team when additional coverage or staffing is required.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Front Office Coordinator position interfaces with patients and families, physicians, and staff, admits patients and processes their paperwork, and updates patient demographics/information in system. A key component of this job is coordination with patients via phone and other electronic media, the collection of monies due on day of surgery, documenting these transactions in the billing system, and adhering to written policy regarding the handling of funds for procedures performed at the center. Works closely with the Business Office Manager, off-site billing personnel, and for matters involving case scheduling with the Director of Nursing and OR Supervisor. Answer incoming phone calls.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in coordinating patient insurance prior to surgery.
  • Greet surgical patients and their family members on the day of surgery, confirm all personal and insurance information with the patient.
  • Enter demographic information in the computer software system.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and directing calls to the appropriate individuals. Addressing voicemails.
  • Chart prep including identification wristband and chart labels.
  • Manage daily surgical schedule with LOGSC staff to assure proper order of cases and arrival times.
  • Ensure future surgical cases are accurately reflected in the computer system sent by the physicianโ€™s office.
  • Coordinate with patients via phone and other electronic media prior to the day of service, the collection of monies due on day of surgery, and documenting these transactions in the billing system.
  • Work closely with the Business Office Manager on medical staff credentialing packages, administrative tasks, preparing new hire packets, etc.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting strongly preferred.
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be organized, efficient and a quick learner.
  • Must be accurate with data and detail-oriented.
  • Have experience and/or strong desire to perform on-site collections of patient co-insurance, co-pays, and deductibles.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to complete difficult tasks, and helpful demeanor a must.
  • Must have the skills necessary to operate office equipment that are required to fulfill job duties (i.e. computer experience, electronic medical records experience, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) essential.
  • Medical terminology experience a plus.
