POSITION SUMMARY: Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and student-focused Admissions Representative to join the Enrollment Services team. This temporary position plays an important role in supporting the College's enrollment goals by recruiting prospective students, providing exceptional customer service, and helping individuals explore the educational opportunities available at SMCC. The ideal candidate is an engaging communicator who enjoys building relationships, traveling throughout Maine and New England, and representing the College in a variety of settings.
This is a temporary position with an anticipated start date of September 21st and an expected end date of December 14th, 2026. The appointment may be extended based on departmental needs and available funding.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Recruit prospective students through attendance at high school visits, college fairs, community events, and other recruitment activities throughout Maine and surrounding regions.
  • Communicate with prospective students and their families through in-person meetings, phone calls, email, text, and virtual appointments to provide information about SMCC's academic programs, admissions process, financial aid resources, and student support services.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment activities and prospective student interactions using the College's customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Travel extensively by car throughout the recruitment territory, including occasional overnight travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and legally able to drive college and/or rental vehicles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in admissions, enrollment management, student services, higher education, or recruitment.
  • Familiarity with community colleges and the unique educational pathways they provide.
  • Experience working with students from diverse educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
