L.L.Bean is currently seeking a Temporary General Maintenance Technician - Grounds (1st Shift) to join our Facilities team in beautiful Freeport, Maine. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Position Purpose: Participates in or assumes responsibility for assigned preventive maintenance and repair activities including repair of building components and miscellaneous tools and equipment. Performs grounds maintenance tasks and support facilities projects. May operate power tools and/or grounds keeping equipment.
Responsibilities:

General Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Completes selected repairs and maintenance to building components such as doors, windows, acoustical ceilings and floor coverings.

  • Installs accessories such as bulletin boards, projector screens, cabinets, etc.

  • Assists in construction of items such as picnic tables, barricades, sawhorses, etc.

  • Assists with snow removal at assigned locations.

  • Performs other maintenance functions as skills and workload allows.

  • Tours L.L. Bean Retail and Corporate buildings, noting maintenance and cleaning needed and prepares appropriate work order through Service Channel.

Grounds Responsibilities

  • Will be expected and must be available to work fluctuating schedules which may exceed forty hours per week according to business and weather demands.

  • Able to assist in basic exterior setup and installations such as signage, furniture setups, parking lot setups.

  • Be able to use basic landscape and snow removal equipment.

  • Performs spring/summer/fall landscape duties including mowing, string trimming, weeding/watering, fall cleanup.

  • Performs winter snow/ice duties including shoveling, snowplowing/snow blowing, salting and sanding.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides communication to co- workers through e-mail, Teams and daily interface.

  • Employees working in this position, to support peak, will be expected and must be available to work fluctuating schedules which may exceed forty hours per week according to business demands.

  • Performs scheduled maintenance on equipment timely on the required schedule established by leaders in Service Channel.

  • This position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive position is one in which an impaired worker constitutes a serious and direct threat to workplace health and safety. Employees in this position must agree that they will not come to work or be at work at any time under the influence of alcohol or any drug that could render them impaired.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Continuous mental and visual attention, with manual coordination due to tools used: table saws, planers, metal fabrication tools, paint sprayers, driving of company vehicles and powered industrial trucks.

  • Ability to supply written documentation of daily activities, preventive maintenance and repairs.

  • Lifting up to approx. 50 lbs (30% of time).

  • Standing up to 8 hrs. per day.

  • Dexterity, repetitive motion. Frequently handling light weight materials in difficult work positions.

  • Valid Drivers License.

L.L.Bean uses a market-based compensation approach. The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $21.33-$25.60. Individual compensation may vary based on factors such as a candidate's experience, qualifications, education, geographic location, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
