Title : Role -UX Designer  

Location : 40% onsite role in Baltimore MD

Rate: Keep it competitive

 

Position Description: Bring best practices in human centered design to support initiatives across the state to holistically improve users’ end-to-end experiences with state services. Be a champion for user needs and guide designers, researchers, content strategists as well as technical teams on projects with state agencies. Engage with stakeholders across organizations in order to build customer understanding, solve challenging problems, and empower teams to collaboratively develop metrics, measuring results, and integrate new methodologies optimizing customer experience and program performance. Communicate user research findings and insights through appropriate artifacts including personas, journey maps, wireframes and prototypes.

The User Experience Designer is responsible for understanding user needs and improving the user experience for solutions and applications. They work closely with Business Analysts, System Analysts, and technical team members to create user interfaces that are intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and aligned with user workflows. The UX Designer will:

●      Participate in team meetings and collaborative planning sessions

●      Work with Business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Business Analysts, and System Analysts to understand functional requirements and translate them into user interface designs

●      Analyze business user needs, content, data, and workflows to deliver UX designs based on industry best practices

●      Create wireframes, storyboards, and user flows to illustrate design ideas

●      Document design thinking and translate technical and user requirements into compelling, usable application functionality

●      Follow best practices for UX design, validating hypotheses with research and data

●      Focus on utility, usability, and desirability of designs

●      Drive innovation and variation while maintaining attention to detail

●      Collaborate in an Agile development environment

●      Ensure adherence to accessibility and usability standards, including 508 compliance

●      Provide input on the design of provider data systems and web-based applications

Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of equivalent experience in a related field may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

General Experience: The proposed candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in user experience and service design.

●      Experience designing digital user experiences for websites, portals, or applications

●      Proven ability to create high-quality diagrams, graphics, and user flows

●      Proficient in wireframing and storyboarding

●      Familiarity with UI/UX design tools and techniques

●      Experience documenting UX strategy and design decisions

●      Ability to work with a variety of web-based platforms and systems

●      Knowledge of 508 compliance, Google UX guidelines, and industry standards

●      Strong planning, organizational, and project delivery skills

●      Ability to build and maintain relationships with business and technical stakeholders

●      Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and listening skills

●      High attention to detail, logical thinking, and problem-solving mindset

●      Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

●      Strong customer service orientation

Specialized experience: The candidate should have experience planning and facilitating workshops, meetings and/or other interactive sessions in order to gather feedback and insight from key customers and stakeholders to determine operational needs and changes to the program.
