Job description

Overview

Chenega Government Mission Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services' company, is looking for an Optometrist (Locum Tenens) in support of the Indian Health Service's Blackfeet Service Unit in Browning, MT. The Optometrist shall deliver quality care to attain positive health outcomes for all our valued patients with emphasis on cultural sensitivity and human dignity.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive Optometry care utilizing the Indian Health Service supplied facilities, equipment and support services.
  • Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans and recommendations for patients seen.
  • Recommend and refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchased Referred Care vendors within appropriate IHS guidelines.
  • Capable of responding to rapidly changing and unexpected needs for temporary coverage within a service unit.
  • Advise the Clinical Director or designated representative of any problems encountered in connection with meeting the patient's care needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities that ensure quality patient care as well as efficient use of hospital resources. These activities may include chart review and discussion with the Clinical Director or his designee.
  • Develop a working understanding of the Joint Commission standards, the Centers for Disease Control guidelines and Association of Infection Control guidelines.
  • Complete all required administrative paperwork within 24- hours of patient visit to include electronic consultations, co-signatures, completion of chart or Risk Management Reviews, unusual occurrences and peer review, as required.
  • Provide consultation to the Hospital Emergency Department heath care providers on an as needed basis.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry
  • Permanent, current, full and unrestricted license to practice Optometry in a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • (Preferred) Board Certified in Optometry
  • Active BLS certification
  • 2 years minimum experience post-graduate in Optometry
