Open Position: Middle School Spanish Teacher, Temporary

Reports to: Director of the Middle School

FLSA Status: Exempt

When Needed: 2026-2027 Academic Year

FT/PT/R/T: Full/Time Regular-Academic Year

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, and on a full-time basis, teaches Middle School level Spanish courses as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Teaches four sections of Middle-School level Spanish
  • Provides classroom instruction and management
  • Collaborates with colleagues, students, parents and administrators as appropriate
  • Actively participates in the life of the school including participating in an overnight trip, chaperoning activities, helping with lunchroom supervision, etc.
  • Is familiar with and comply with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school's documents
  • Establish and cultivate community relations by maintaining open dialogue with all the school's constituencies
  • Vigorously engages in their own professional development
  • Since safety and security are everyone's responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Spanish Language or Spanish Studies required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 3+ years' teaching experience preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English required
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
  • Commitment to teaching the whole child
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of Middle School-aged students
  • A working understanding of Universal Design for Learning and Understanding by Design concepts
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability and flexibility to use Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, learning management systems, online meeting and conferencing applications, andoperating Audio/Visual equipment.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
