TITLE: CIS Administrative Assistant - (Attendance)
Temporary Assignment Needed for the 2026-27 School Year
Pay: $17.00/hr
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with technology platforms, including Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Experience with Skyward Learning Management Systems preferred
  • Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Assistant Principal
JOB GOAL: To ensure the smooth and efficientoperation of the school officeso that ithas a positive impact on the education of children and effectively serves the needs of students, staff, parents and the community in a professional and courteous manner.
The position provides administrative support for the principal/assistant principal. Sensitive and confidential information must be maintained in a fast-paced environment. Good judgment and the ability to prioritize and organize a diversified workload is a necessity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains daily/hourly student attendance records.
  • Enrolls and exits students throughout the year.
  • Maintains student data in the student information management program.
  • Compiles monthly, quarterly, and annual attendance reports.
  • Processes truancy reports.
  • Communicates with truancy officer as needed.
  • Publishes daily announcements to the district website and social media.
  • Manages internal building coverage as needed.
  • Monitors the unfilled absences report each morning and works with building administrators to make adjustments as needed.
  • Receives and routes incoming calls and distributes mail.
  • Assists with guest and substitute teacher check-in and check-out using the visitor screening program.
  • Publishes communication as directed or approved by administration to staff, parents and students using the student information management program, all-call program, and social media.
  • Assists with the coordination of the CIS awards program and graduation.
  • Assists with the outside student support programs such as Weekend Snack-Pacs.
  • Assists with transportation management for field trips and after school activities.
  • Coordinates with vendor for school pictures.
  • Maintains office equipment and orders necessary office supplies.
  • Maintains the building laminator and orders necessary supplies.
  • Orders teacher supplies, awards, materials with purchase orders and maintain records of such.
  • Updates phone routing lists for the CIS building throughout the year.
  • Works with the Crisis Management Team to update the Crisis Management Plan books.
  • Performs office routines and practices associated with a busy and productive office.
  • Assists in maintaining building calendars for scheduled events.
  • Works with Parent Teacher Organization on coordinating building events.
  • Assists nurse in dispensing medication and maintaining appropriate medication records, when needed.
  • Serves as a backup to other administrative assistants when necessary.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality to ensure teamwork and the completion of job duties essential to the daily operation of the school.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal/assistant principal and other district office administrators as designated by the superintendent.
  • Adheres to a professional code of ethics which includes confidentiality of school related matters and loyalty to the school district.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary. Position is for the 2026-27 School Year.
Hourly rate approved by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: All non-certified employees receive a minimum of one written evaluation per year. The administrative assistant will be evaluated by the principal or assistant principal.
