Description

Utilize electromagnetic locating equipment and advanced detection technologies to accurately identify underground utility infrastructure, including gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications, and fiber optic lines. Mark and document utility locations in compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and state regulations. Respond promptly to excavation notifications and complete utility locate requests within established deadlines.

Read and interpret utility maps, construction drawings, GIS data, and project plans to support accurate field locates. Maintain detailed and accurate records of locate activities, field observations, and completed service tickets. Collaborate effectively with contractors, property owners, municipalities, and utility providers to coordinate locating activities and resolve issues. Perform field verification and investigative work to confirm utility locations and address potential conflicts or discrepancies. Adhere to OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and state One Call regulations to ensure a safe work environment.

Inspect, operate, and maintain company vehicles, locating tools, and equipment to ensure reliability and performance. Immediately report utility damages, hazardous conditions, and safety concerns to appropriate personnel and management.

Skills

Previous experience in utility locating, construction, surveying, telecommunications, or underground utilities.

• Knowledge of Iowa One Call procedures.

• Experience using electromagnetic locating devices, GPS equipment, and GIS mapping systems.

• CDL is a plus but not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
