Position Description: The CNC Programmer is responsible for determining methodologies behind producing complex aerospace components, writing CNC programs, as well as creating drawings and set up sheets for shop use. The role requires expertise in NX, G-code, work holding, cutting tools, and machining techniques for various materials like aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium. The CNC Programmer will also be involved in process development, first-piece runs, and assisting machine operators with setups. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Programming of complex aerospace components, experience with NX CAD and CAM preferred.
  • Create toolpaths and G-code programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis milling, turning, and mill-turn machines.
  • Program a variety of parts made from aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, etc.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, geometric tolerances, and symbols to meet military and commercial specifications.
  • Assist in process development including machine setup, first piece runs and inspection.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools and work holding strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and machinists to optimize machining processes and ensure the highest quality of components.
  • Create detailed setup sheets for machine operators and ensure clear documentation.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing/machining environment, preferably in aerospace.
    • Knowledge of cutting tools, holders and work holding techniques
    • Knowledge of different types of machines – 3, 4, 5-axis milling, turning, mill-turn
    • Knowledge of different material types – Aluminum, Stainless, Titanium, High Nickel Alloys, etc.
    • Knowledge of common/current material removal processes and techniques
  • 2+ years’ experience programming CNC equipment
    • Knowledge of G code programs and machine controls, Okuma, Matsuura, Fanuc, Haas. 
    • Experience with NX– drafting, modeling, and CAM modules
    • Knowledge of common 3D model types
    • Experience working with 3D models
  • Experience with Vericut is a plus
  • General computer experience
    • Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
    • Windows 10 experience
    • Ability to navigate an understand file structure and naming convention in Windows Explorer environment 
  • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of the organization
  • Able to collaborate fluently in a team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Possible travel as required for training and multi-site support
