Job description

We are seeking experienced, hands-on technicians with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills to support advanced industrial woodworking machinery.

This role requires up to 100% travel and is ideal for technicians who enjoy working independently in the field, solving complex problems, and working directly with customers.

This is a home-based field service position supporting customers throughout the New England region. Candidates should reside near the posted location or a major airport and be comfortable with frequent travel.

Preferred experience includes CNC machinery, PLCs, industrial automation, or similar equipment.

The Service Technician travels throughout the assigned region.

Performs the construction, assembly, installation and commission of CNC industrial woodworking equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical problems and/or the built-in hardware & software control programming, which includes relay control circuits, electronic boards.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform installations and startups of SCM machinery at customer and dealer sites.
  • Execute preventive maintenance, repairs, and both warranty and billable service interventions.
  • Provide operational training to machine end users.
  • Operate in compliance with SCM's technical and safety standards, ensuring precision and quality.
  • Represent the company professionally, maintaining personal appearance, punctuality, and clear communication with customers.
  • Report commercial opportunities and relevant technical feedback to internal departments.
  • Accurately record all activities and times in the CRM system.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians on complex installations or projects.
  • Contribute to skill development through continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance, installation, or technical assistance.
  • Practical, hands-on knowledge of mechanics, electricity, pneumatics, and automation in an industrial environment
  • Strong communication skills and customer orientation.
  • Fluent English required; Italian and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across both mechanical and electrical systems required

  • Technical education in industrial disciplines.
  • Experience with multiple SCM technologies.
