Job description

Fact-Checking Analyst

What if your instinct for truth and your research skills could directly shape how AI communicates with millions of people? We're looking for Fact-Checking Analysts to verify AI-generated facts, statistics, and claims — helping ensure that the AI systems people rely on are accurate, trustworthy, and free from misinformation.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role open to anyone with strong research instincts and a critical eye for accuracy. No journalism or professional fact-checking background required — just intellectual curiosity, a methodical approach, and a commitment to getting things right.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Verify AI-generated statements, statistics, and claims against reliable, authoritative sources
  • Flag factual errors, outdated information, and unsupported or misleading claims
  • Rate the accuracy and reliability of AI outputs using structured evaluation rubrics
  • Document your sources and clearly explain the reasoning behind each fact-check decision
  • Work across a wide variety of topics — from current events and science to history, health, and culture
  • Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Strong research skills and a confident ability to identify and evaluate trustworthy sources
  • Natural skepticism toward unverified claims and a drive to dig until you find the truth
  • Detail-oriented and systematic — you approach tasks with consistency and thoroughness
  • Clear, concise written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • No prior journalism, fact-checking, or AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Background in research, journalism, academia, or investigative writing
  • Experience with source verification, data analysis, or content moderation
  • Familiarity with fact-checking tools, databases, or reference platforms
  • Broad general knowledge across multiple subject areas

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Contribute to AI development that directly reduces misinformation at scale
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
