NOW HIRING (4 Openings): Instrumentation & Electrical (I/E) Maintenance Technician Las Vegas, NV

Schedule: Rotating shifts + OT + on-call as needed

Position Overview

Great Basin Staffing is seeking experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Maintenance Technicians to support reliable operations at an industrial facility in Las Vegas, NV. This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical distribution systems (12kV down to 24V controls), industrial instrumentation (flow/level/pressure/temp), and control equipment across the plant.

Youll work in a true maintenance environmentresponding to breakdowns, executing preventive/predictive work, supporting commissioning/startups, and documenting work in a CMMS. Candidates must be safety-first and comfortable with rotating schedules and callouts.

What Youll DoElectrical Distribution & Motor Control
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical distribution equipment including 12kV switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, starters, and motor systems.

  • Install and maintain 480V208V industrial equipment, lighting, and branch circuits.

  • Maintain and diagnose 120V24V control circuits, relays, interlocks, and low-voltage power supplies.

  • Perform PM tasks including insulation resistance (megger) testing, breaker testing, and arc-flash safety checks.

  • Assist with commissioning/startup of new equipment, upgrades, and reliability improvements.

Instrumentation & Controls (I&C)
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair industrial instrumentation:

    • Flow meters: Coriolis, mag, ultrasonic, turbine, DP

    • Level: radar, ultrasonic, DP, guided wave, float

    • Pressure: transmitters/switches

    • Temperature: RTDs, thermocouples

  • Perform loop checks, control valve calibration, and signal verification (420mA, HART, Modbus, etc.).

  • Support PLC/DCS field devices including I/O modules and communications networks.

  • Troubleshoot automated systems, respond to SCADA alarms, and isolate instrumentation faults.

Maintenance Systems & Documentation
  • Execute and document preventive/predictive maintenance tasks and corrective work orders.

  • Use CMMS to record work performed, parts used, and corrective actions.

  • Support root-cause failure analysis, reliability improvements, and basic spare parts/inventory upkeep.

Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • 35+ years as an I/E Technician in an industrial setting (mining, chemical, manufacturing, utilities, O&G, etc.).

  • Valid drivers license (must be able to drive company vehicles on/off property).

  • Strong proficiency across power systems from 12kV distribution to 24V control circuits.

  • Experience with industrial instrumentation for flow, level, pressure, and temperature.

  • Ability to read/interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop sheets, and wiring diagrams.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, and industrial communication protocols.

  • Ability to work independently and respond to after-hours callouts.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check if required by site.

Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Platform exposure: Allen-Bradley, Emerson, Siemens, Foxboro, Yokogawa.

  • State or Journeyman electrical certification.

  • Instrumentation certification (ISA, NCCER, etc.).

  • Hazardous location experience (Class I/Div 2, etc.).

  • NFPA 70E training (strong plus).

Schedule & Working Conditions
  • Industrial maintenance environment with rotating shifts, overtime, and on-call rotations.

  • Work around energized equipment and process systems (strict LOTO/arc-flash compliance).

  • Physical requirements include standing/walking, ladders/stairs, lifting up to ~50 lbs, and working in varying temperatures/noise.
