Job Title: Pump Shop Technician
Job Description

The Pump Shop Technician repairs, assembles, and tests hydraulic components while supporting the smooth operation of the pump shop. This role evaluates parts for reusability, identifies causes of failure, and coordinates closely with other team members and departments to ensure efficient workflow, safety, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Repair hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, and control valves according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Assemble hydraulic components and related parts using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Test components to verify proper operation and performance after repair or assembly.
  • Identify and complete orders for parts required to perform repairs in a timely manner.
  • Repair reusable parts and evaluate their condition to determine reusability and cause of failure.
  • Disassemble hydraulic components safely and systematically for inspection, repair, or replacement of parts.
  • Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the department and with other departments to ensure an efficient flow of information and work.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures designed to maintain a workplace free from harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior.
  • Support and comply with internal policies, procedures, and practices related to risk management, safety, and overall operational soundness.
  • Follow all company and regulatory compliance requirements related to the repair and service of hydraulic components.
  • Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested or according to established schedules.
  • Compile and provide accurate data and information to appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Respond to inquiries related to assigned work area from customers and internal personnel within established time frames and according to company policy.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision tools safely and effectively in daily tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
Essential Skills
  • Experience repairing hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, and control valves.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficient mechanical skills for assembly, disassembly, and repair work.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and surface grinding in a shop environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical instructions and procedures.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills to complete documentation and calculations accurately.
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate work and respond to inquiries effectively.
  • Proficient PC skills, including use of the Internet and information technology related to the sales and service of hydraulic parts.
  • Ability to evaluate parts for reusability and determine causes of failure.
  • Visual and auditory skills sufficient to safely perform tasks and conduct component testing.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training in working on hydraulic components and using precision tools.
  • Familiarity with risk management and safety practices in a machine shop environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and coordinate tasks across departments.

Work Environment

The role is based in a machine shop-style setting located in a former car dealership showroom, offering a spacious and practical work area designed for hydraulic component repair and testing. The environment involves regular use of mechanical, hydraulic, and precision tools, including hand tools, power tools, and surface grinding equipment. Work is performed on-site during four 10-hour shifts from Tuesday through Friday. Safety is a priority, and the dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans, and safety glasses at all times in the work area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
