Job Description:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Toledo invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position which will start in August 2026 and may be renewed for up to three (3) full academic years.
This position entails teaching upper-level applied mathematics courses as well as foundational undergraduate mathematics courses that support programs in mathematics, science, education, and engineering.
Teaching responsibilities may include calculus, linear algebra, numerical analysis, discrete probability, mathematical modeling, and related applied mathematics courses.
The expected instructional assignment is between 24 and 30 credit hours per academic year.
Applicants must submit a current CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, a research statement, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be emailed to Janell.Staples@UToledo.Edu.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a master's degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field.
Applicants must have prior university-level teaching experience and demonstrated ability to teach applied mathematics courses.
Applicants should also demonstrate strong pedagogical skills and the ability to support students with varied preparation levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics. Experience in teaching Applied Math classes.
