*INCREASED* Pay Ranges: $42.00 per hour, plus $155.00 a day per diem, non-local

Job Description

A First-Class Electrician, also called an Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation, and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ship's power. 

Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment, along a working knowledge of blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

Shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts.

As with almost every position in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night depending upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Requires a minimum of four (4) years of electrical experience in the commercial or naval marine electrical field. 

Read and interpret marine drawings and blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements,

One (1) year of shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communications, navigation, etc.), the ability to read marine blueprints and work from standard and metric specifications, wiring hook-ups, and fiber optics experience.
