Location: Laguna Niguel, CA
Job Type: Full-Time | Temp to Hire | Hours are 7 AM to 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday).
Pay: Starting at $22.00 per hour

About the Opportunity

Join a growing advanced manufacturing company specializing in high-performance fiber optic cable assemblies and harnesses for the aerospace, industrial, defense, and broadcast industries. We are seeking detail-oriented 10 individuals who enjoy hands-on work and want to build a career in fiber optics, cable assembly, and precision manufacturing.

Candidates with experience in jewelry making, sewing, tailoring, dental laboratories, medical devices, ceramics, electronics, or other hands-on precision trades are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for assembling, terminating, polishing, inspecting, testing, and repairing fiber optic cable assemblies and harnesses. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a quality-focused manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble fiber optic cable assemblies and harnesses according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and production procedures.
  • Measure, cut, strip, and prepare fiber optic cables for termination.
  • Terminate single-fiber and multi-fiber optical connectors.
  • Perform fiber preparation, epoxy bonding, curing, and cleaving processes.
  • Polish fiber optic connectors using automated polishing equipment.
  • Inspect connector end faces using fiber optic microscopes and interferometers.
  • Conduct optical testing, including Insertion Loss (IL), Return Loss (RL), and continuity verification.
  • Install backshells, strain reliefs, boots, and other cable accessories.
  • Route, bundle, lace, and secure fiber optic cables using approved assembly methods.
  • Complete production records, quality documentation, and manufacturing travelers accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and written procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
  • Interest in fiber optics, manufacturing, electronics, or technical assembly.
  • Ability to perform repetitive precision work with small components.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in any of the following is highly desirable but not required:

  • Fiber optic connector termination (MPO/MT, LC, SC, ST, FC, ARINC 801, M29504).
  • Cable assembly or wire harness manufacturing.
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing.
  • Electronics assembly.
  • Telecommunications equipment assembly.
  • Fiber optic polishing and inspection.
  • Use of microscopes and optical testing equipment.
  • Precision manufacturing or fine-detail assembly work.

Candidates with experience in jewelry making, sewing, tailoring, dental laboratories, medical devices, ceramics, electronics, or other hands-on precision trades are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle small parts and precision components.
  • Strong close-up vision and color recognition.
