Alternate Facility Security Officer - JobID-0220 Department: Operations Employment Type: Full Time Location: Arlington, VA Compensation: $74,000 - $116,000 / year Description About The Role: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking an Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to be part of our Security team and based out of our Arlington, VA location. The Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) will partner with the resident FSO to manage, execute, and enforce the industrial security program across designated IDT CAGE codes. This leadership support role is heavily focused on serving as the primary administrator for the Security Information Management System (SIMS) and leading all classified shipping, receiving, and material control operations. The AFSO will maintain full operational readiness under 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM), oversee personnel security workflows, and assume full FSO responsibilities in the resident FSO's absence. Clearance & Location Requirements: * All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. * This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 5 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA location. Key Responsibilities What You Will Do: * Serve as the primary lead for the Security Information Management System (SIMS), ensuring absolute accuracy of all electronic security records, cleared personnel rosters, and facility assets. * Utilize SIMS to track, audit, and account for the entire lifecycle of all classified holdings, hardware, and media from initial receipt through destruction or final dispatch. * Leverage SIMS reporting features to conduct internal audits, identify compliance trends, and lead data preparation for annual DCSA assessments * Direct and execute all Classified Shipping and Receiving operations for the facility, ensuring strict compliance with NISPOM, DCSA, and government transport regulations. * Receipt for, inspect, log, and secure all incoming classified hardware, equipment, and documentation into the SIMS registry. * Coordinate secure outbound transportation logistics (e.g., FedEx Custom Critical, Defense Courier Service), including proper inner/outer wrapping, labeling, and preparation of cryptographic or classified material for cleared couriers. * Ensure strict physical accountability of classified spaces by managing monthly above-ceiling and bag inspections, container checks, and emergency open/close procedures. * Manage combination changes for GSA-approved containers and train facility personnel on secure handling and material stowage protocols. * Serve as the designated backup to the resident FSO, fully authorized to manage facility operations and handle security incidents in their absence * Oversee the review, submission, processing, and maintenance of personnel security applications (SF86s) via NBIS, ensuring adherence to required IDT timelines. * Manage subject records within the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) for VA and other company CAGE codes * Monitor clearance tracks and provide routine, proactive status updates to employees, Program Leads (PLs), the FSO, and the CSO. * Supervise the processing and verification of incoming and outgoing Visit Authorization Requests (VARs). * Administer physical access control systems and authorization tools (SysLink, MyKastle, DMP panels) for cleared personnel and visitors entering active DoD Classified Areas * Review, submit, process, and maintain personnel security applications (SF86s) with the Defense * Responsible for monthly above ceiling and bag inspections * Participant in the bi-annual self-inspections using the DCSA handbook * Assist with relevant and timely corrective actions to any self-inspection findings * Provides escort functions as related to classified facility operations * Conducts employee training for Open/Close procedures for combination locks accessing Classified areas and GSA containers Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Who You Are (Required): * Bachelor's degree or equivalent full-time professional experience. * 3+ years of full-time professional experience, preferably in a security position for the government or government contractor (e.g. FSO or Assistant FSO, ISSM, ISSO, Security Officer). * Working knowledge of SIMS, DISS / NISS / NBIS / STEPP / e-APP * Understanding successful Risk Management versus compliance requirements to enable mission success. * Attention to detail as it pertains to record keeping and interactions with Government representatives. * Working knowledge of security manuals, directives, and Executive Orders (32 CFR 117, NISPOM, DAAPM) * Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed What Makes You Stand Out: * Experience with information systems and familiarity with the ISSM role.
