Job Summary
We are looking for a laser system integration engineer to help us support our subsystems on different laser applications (in welding, marking and cutting). This includes the development of new applications (and its implementation at the customer's site), testing of product and product features as well as supporting customers (internal and external)As an integration engineer you will test and support state-of-the-art industrial laser subsystems and act as the technical liaison between the factory and systems integrators to ensure integration of IPG subsystem and customer manufacturing line are successful. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is customer focused, highly organized and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • To be the integration expert for IPG lasers, beam delivery and process monitoring products
  • Devise, execute, and document systems integration tests that validate application-specific customer requirements
  • Provide consultation to end customers on best practices for integrating IPG products to industrial robots, motion controllers and programmable controllers
  • Internal testing of new products and product features for NPI
  • Remotely support and frequent on-site travel for system integration support and user training at customer sites
  • Help to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues
  • Understand customer expectations and align with organizational goals
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to product management which will help us to improve how our products are integrated into a factory setting

  • BS Engineering degree, MS is a plus.
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, optical or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with laser processing: welding, marking and cutting
  • Experience with industrial automation: basic-intermediary PLC (Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar) and robot programming (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, or similar)
  • Experience with industrial networking: TCP/IP communication and configuration
  • Experience with machine vision systems.
  • Basic programming or scripting experience (Python, C#, VB, or similar)
  • Experience with customer interaction: working directly with customers explaining engineering concepts to lay stakeholders
