Job description

Job Description
The FamilySearch Library is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Collections Staff Assistant to support the management and maintenance of library materials and catalog records. This temporary, part-time position plays an important role in ensuring library collections are organized, accurate, and accessible to patrons and staff.
This is an in-person position based at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Remote work is not available.
Responsibilities
General Requirements
  • Temple worthy
  • Availability to work in person at the FamilySearch Library
  • Ability to work shifts of at least four consecutive hours

Primary Responsibilities
  • Receive, unpack, and process incoming books and materials
  • Verify and correct information in the library catalog
  • Sort and process items returned from other locations
  • Shelve books and maintain organization of library collections
  • Assist with inventory management of library materials
  • Track and update monthly collection statistics

Qualifications
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push carts containing books and boxes
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand regularly, and sit for extended periods as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related tools
  • Ability to learn and effectively use the Koha library catalog system
