Temporary HR Compensation Analyst
Job no: 498962

Position Summary
This temporary, non-benefited position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the compensation program. The Temporary Compensation Analyst will assist with market pricing activities to help ensure internal equity and external competitiveness while supporting the University's overall compensation philosophy. This role will also provide analytical and administrative support related to compensation processes, policy interpretation, and compensation-related projects.
This is a temporary, hourly position anticipated to last until October 30, 2026.
This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year.
Essential Functions
  • Evaluates jobs, determines pay grades, and performs associated analysis.
  • Assists with compensation-related requests and ensures alignment with current compensation policies and practices.
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding compensation analyses and processes.
  • Supports annual salary planning and merit administration activities.
  • Assists with salary surveys and compensation studies to support market competitiveness.
  • Supports compliance with applicable wage and hour regulations and university compensation guidelines.
  • Reviews and updates job descriptions and organizational charts as needed.
  • Performs audits and maintains compensation-related data for accuracy and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborates with HR partners and university stakeholders on compensation-related initiatives and projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
  • Human Resources principles and compensation practices
  • Applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations
  • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, data analysis)
  • Customer service principles and practices

Skill in:
  • Analyzing and interpreting policies and procedures
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders
  • Utilizing technology for reporting and data analysis
  • Problem-solving and managing multiple priorities

Ability to:
  • Work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Build effective working relationships with employees and managers
  • Work effectively with diverse populations

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in human resources, compensation, or business administration preferred.

Working Environment
  • Standard office environment
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus and transport objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This position may be performed remotely. The schedule may vary based on departmental needs, and occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.

Hourly Range
The hourly range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00 per hour.
