Position Description ONLINE EXAM WINDOW TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 17-18, 2026 INTERVIEWS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 1-2, 2026 The Fresno County Department of Public Health invites applications for the position of Environmental Health Aide. Incumbents assist in conducting evaluations, inspections and investigations; enforcing laws and regulations; reviewing permit applications for completeness and accuracy; and educating the public in environmental matters affecting the health and well-being of the community. At least fifteen (15) of the required semester units must be in Biology, Chemistry, Health Science, or a closely related field.

SELECTION PROCESS: Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Tentative Exam Dates: September 17-18, 2026 Tentative Interview Dates: October 1-2, 2026 Please Note: The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months, and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS: Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved.

Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.
