Job description

Bindery Equipment Operator – 3rd Shift

Schedule: Sunday – Thursday | 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Pay: $30–$35/hour + 10% Shift Differential

We are seeking an experienced Bindery Mechanic to join a fast-paced manufacturing and direct mail production environment. This role is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of bindery equipment including folders, affixing equipment, and programmable cutters to ensure high-quality production and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate roll-fed continuous folding, cut-sheet folding, affixing, and programmable cutting equipment
  • Read and interpret job tickets to determine setup specifications, folds, trim measurements, card placement, and sequencing requirements
  • Program guillotine cutters and adjust blades to ensure accurate finished dimensions
  • Set up card affixing equipment, camera match systems, folders, and related attachments per job specifications
  • Run production samples, make equipment adjustments, and obtain approval before full production runs
  • Monitor production quality and maintain efficiency standards throughout the shift
  • Verify proper card placement, folding accuracy, and mailing requirements
  • Organize materials, tray markers, and sequence tracking documentation
  • Palletize or tray finished product for downstream processing
  • Perform routine machine maintenance including greasing, blade changes, cleaning, and safety checks
  • Complete production reporting and accurately enter information into shop floor systems
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and security procedures

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience setting up and operating roll-fed continuous folding equipment such as MBO, Stahl, Cleveland, or GBR
  • 5+ years of cutter setup and operation experience, preferably with Lawson cutters
  • 5+ years of experience operating affixing equipment including Kirk-Rudy, MBO, or Gavehren
  • Experience using camera match systems such as MCS, Keyence, or Lake Image
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets and sequence numbers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible to operate different bindery equipment and support varying production needs
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing production environment
  • Full-time onsite position
  • PPE required in designated areas due to noise levels
  • Physical duties include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling materials throughout the shift
