Job description

Hiring a Grant Writer in Van Nuys, CA!

  • Covering a LOA until April 2027 (potentially longer)
  • Highly prefer experience with Monday.com
  • Experience securing and managing six- and seven-figure grants HIGHLY preferred
  • Hybrid!

Description

• Research and evaluate foundation, corporate, government, and other funding opportunities

• Maintain and manage an annual grants calendar, including application deadlines, reporting requirements, renewal dates, and stewardship activities

• Draft and submit letters of inquiry, grant proposals, concept papers, sponsorship requests, and renewal applications

• Coordinate the full application process, including completing administrative documents, compiling attachments, collecting program and financial information, and managing online submissions

• Collaborate with executive, program, workforce development, finance, and evaluation staff to develop strong narratives, measurable outcomes, logic models, work plans, and budgets

• Prepare grant budgets and budget narratives in partnership with the COO to ensure alignment

• Monitor active grants to ensure programs, expenditures, outcomes, and documentation remain compliant

• Prepare accurate, timely, and persuasive interim and final grant reports

• Maintain organized electronic grant files, supporting documentation, award letters, agreements, reports, and correspondence

• Maintain grant tracking systems and dashboards in Monday.com

• Prepare detailed funding updates for the CEO's Executive Report and board of directors meetings

Preparing briefing materials, coordinating follow-up, and assisting the CEO with funder meetings

• Help identify opportunities to renew, expand, and diversify funding portfolio.

• Assist with donor stewardship, fundraising appeals, acknowledgment letters, and communications

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• 3-5 years of nonprofit grant writing and grant administration experience.

• Proposal Writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills.

• Experience developing grant budgets, budget narratives, performance measures, and funder reports.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Nonprofit experience required.

PREFERRED

• Experience securing and managing six- and seven-figure grants HIGHLY preferred

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: foster care, youth development, workforce development, apprenticeships, arts education, filmmaking, entertainment, mental health, or trauma-informed programming.

• Experience with California state, county, or federal funding opportunities.

• Experience using Monday.com

• Experience reviewing or updating Salsa Labs or another donor CRM.

• bilingual preferred but not required.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
