Description

The City of Reno is currently accepting applications for various part-time positions. The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking energetic, reliable, and community-focused individuals to help create safe, welcoming, and enjoyable parks for residents and visitors alike. As an Assistant Park Ranger, you will patrol City parks and recreation areas, educate the public on park rules, promote compliance with City ordinances, and respond to incidents with professionalism and sound judgment. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in security, event management, or park operations who enjoy working outdoors and serving their community.
Available Positions:
  • Assistant Park Ranger ($20-26/hour) (Now hiring)

Examples of Essential Functions
Assistant Park Ranger:
  • Patrolling parks and recreation areas to enforce rules and maintain public safety.
  • Enforcing compliance with ordinances through public contact, education, and citations when needed.
  • Preparing reports and maintaining incident, activity, and evidence records.

Minimum Qualifications
Some positions may have a higher age requirement than 16 and require additional certifications for employment. The minimum qualification requirements for the Activation positions can be found below.
Assistant Park Ranger:
  • Age: 18
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized training in the protection og parks or public recreation areas
  • Experience: Two years of experience in security, event management, or protection of a park or public recreation area
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license required
  • Preferred: Bilingual abilities (Spanish or other languages)
  • Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid within six months of hire
