Job description

Be Part of What's Next

At Delish, social media is more than promotion-it's where food culture comes to life. We're looking for a Temporary Deputy Social Media Editor to help shape the voice, strategy, and audience experience across platforms while driving meaningful engagement with millions of food lovers every day.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)

Hearst Magazines is one of the world's largest publishers, with more than 30 powerful brands in the U.S. including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper's BAZAAR, Popular Mechanics, Runner's World, and Delish. We reach more than 165 million people every month across print, digital, social, video, and commerce platforms. Our brands inspire, inform, and entertain audiences through world-class storytelling, trusted journalism, and innovative content experiences.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Lead and manage the social media team to achieve audience growth, engagement, and overall brand performance goals.
  • Develop and execute Delish's overarching social media strategy, including platform-specific cadence goals and KPI tracking.
  • Oversee production and promotion of Delish's weekly podcast, SNACKS!, collaborating closely with video editors and social teams on both long-form episodes and short-form social cutdowns.
  • Ideate and manage social-first franchises featuring food editors, celebrities, chefs, influencers, and emerging personalities to drive brand awareness and audience retention.
  • Manage freelancers, contributors, and cross-functional collaboration requests tied to social-led initiatives and programming.
  • Analyze social and content performance data to identify opportunities for optimization, audience growth, and stronger conversion outcomes.
  • Pitch and help shape editorial ideas for recipes, news, features, videos, and other content with social engagement and performance in mind.
  • Partner with editorial, video, design, and branded content teams to create innovative social-first projects that elevate the Delish brand.

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 5+ years of experience in social media, audience development, digital editorial, or related content strategy roles.
  • Strong understanding of social platform best practices, trends, analytics, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Experience managing social teams, freelancers, and cross-functional creative collaborations.
  • Proven ability to develop social-first programming and content franchises that drive audience growth and retention.
  • Strong editorial instincts with the ability to identify culturally relevant moments and translate them into compelling social content.
  • Experience working with video content, podcasts, and short-form social storytelling.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills in a fast-paced media environment.
  • Passion for food, pop culture, and digital storytelling.
  • This role is based in New York City and requires in-office attendance 4 days per week.

The hourly rate for this role is $60/hour. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

Hearst Magazines is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
