This role functions as a technical leader within the data center, providing subject matter expertise across compute, accelerators, networking, and supporting infrastructure platforms.

The Data Center Technician L3 is expected to independently diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues, execute advanced repair procedures, support commissioning and deployment activities, and provide technical guidance to junior personnel. The role serves as a primary escalation point for technical issues and works closely with customer engineering teams, OEM partners, network teams, and site leadership to maintain operational excellence.

This position is critical to maintaining infrastructure availability, reducing repair times, improving deployment quality, and supporting the reliability of mission-critical AI computing environments.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Advanced Deployment & Integration

  • Lead installation, integration, and deployment activities for servers, accelerator platforms, networking equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Validate deployment quality against customer specifications, rack elevations, port maps, and deployment standards.
  • Execute and oversee structured cabling activities, including copper and fiber infrastructure deployments.
  • Perform deployment audits, acceptance testing, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Support commissioning, site expansion, and infrastructure turnover activities.

Advanced Diagnostics & Break-Fix Operations

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of server, accelerator, storage, and networking hardware failures.
  • Execute customer-directed repair procedures and complex hardware diagnostics.
  • Perform FRU replacement activities across compute, accelerator, and network platforms.
  • Support firmware upgrades, hardware qualification testing, and post-maintenance validation.
  • Serve as the technical lead during hardware incidents and escalations.
  • Drive rapid restoration of service while ensuring quality and procedural compliance.

Accelerator & AI Infrastructure Support

  • Support GPU, TPU, accelerator, and high-density compute platforms.
  • Execute return-to-service validation and performance verification activities following repairs.
  • Assist customer engineering teams with hardware investigations and diagnostics.
  • Support hardware qualification, burn-in, and acceptance testing activities.
  • Maintain awareness of platform-specific repair procedures and operational requirements.

Asset Lifecycle & RMA Management

  • Oversee serialized asset tracking and lifecycle management activities.
  • Manage complex RMA workflows, including diagnostics, documentation, chain-of-custody, and return processing.
  • Validate asset reconciliation and inventory accuracy.
  • Support spare parts planning and inventory optimization efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with media handling and asset disposition requirements.

Network & Physical Infrastructure Support

  • Support physical-layer network operations, including fiber plant infrastructure, optics replacement, patching, and connectivity validation.
  • Troubleshoot cabling, optics, and hardware-related network issues.
  • Support OOB (Out-of-Band) management infrastructure and console access systems.
  • Execute physical network changes under customer engineering direction.
  • Assist with network deployment and expansion initiatives.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as a technical escalation point for Data Center Technicians and operational personnel.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical development support to L1 and L2 technicians.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and qualification programs.
  • Promote adherence to technical standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead technical reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.

Incident Response & Operational Support

  • Participate in major incident response and restoration efforts.
  • Assist site leadership with technical assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Support operational readiness reviews and maintenance planning activities.
  • Provide technical expertise during change management and maintenance execution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate escalation of complex technical issues.

Documentation & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, deployments, and validation activities.
  • Support development and refinement of technical procedures and work instructions.
  • Review deployment documentation, asset records, and maintenance records for accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with customer quality standards and audit requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability and operational efficiency.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Adhere to all site safety, security, and operational procedures.
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives and safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with customer security controls and access requirements.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and operational compliance activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting data center operations, hardware deployment, or infrastructure support environments.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting and repairing server, storage, and networking hardware.
  • Experience executing complex technical procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of hardware diagnostics, component replacement, and system validation.
