Job Description
You'll play a key role in ensuring the right data reaches the right people at the right time across Uncommon. In this role, you will manage and fulfill data requests, support critical data processes, and help teams make informed decisions that directly impact students and schools. You'll collaborate with colleagues across Development, Talent, and academic teams, turning data into clear, usable insights. Your work will support the reporting and analysis that helps advance our mission of preparing students to graduate from college and achieve their dreams.
This is a temporary position starting as soon as possible, with an expected end date of June 30, 2027.
Data Processing & Reporting
  • Prepare, clean, and organize data for reporting and analysis across multiple systems
  • Configure, test, and execute data processes, including survey and assessment-related data
  • Build and refine reports that provide key information to stakeholders
  • Monitor data quality and help troubleshoot issues to support accurate reporting

Data Requests & Stakeholder Support
  • Fulfill and track data requests from teams across the organization for internal and external use
  • Partner with teams that submit recurring requests to anticipate needs and plan ahead
  • Respond to questions and support colleagues in accessing and understanding data
  • Assist with analyses requested by leadership and Home Office teams

Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Document processes, reports, and workflows to support consistency and quality
  • Contribute to and maintain a knowledge base of key datasets and reporting practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and tools in collaboration with the Data & IT team

Team & Project Support
  • Support project planning to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data work
  • Assist with team coordination, including organizing documentation and scheduling
  • Continue developing data skills to contribute to broader reporting and analysis work

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience, including experience working with data for reporting or analysis
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience cleaning and preparing data using spreadsheets or a coding language
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on deadlines

Preferred
  • Experience with Python or R
  • Familiarity with Tableau or similar tools
  • Experience using a ticketing or support system (e.g., Zendesk)
  • Coursework or experience in statistics
  • Experience working with education-related data

Compensation
The full compensation range for this role is $67,300-$79,200. Typically, new hires who fully meet all qualifications listed in the job description will start at $71,300. Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.
Compensation determinations consider relevant professional experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Additionally, because we value internal growth and tenure, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.
Work Environment:
Uncommon is an in-person organization, with a commitment of at least three days each week at our Central Office in downtown Manhattan (100 Church Street).
Position Type:
This is a temporary role with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027.
