Cyber Crime Investigator

Location: On-Site – Quantico, VA

Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with ability to obtain a CI Polygraph

Salary Range: $145,000 - $175,000

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Cyber Crime Investigator serves as a technical subject matter expert supporting a federal counterintelligence program. In this role, you'll apply both traditional investigative tradecraft and cyber expertise to sensitive national security investigations, ensuring each is conducted fairly, impartially, and professionally.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations, including researching, designing, deploying, and leading training events
  • Own all phases of forensic examination of digital media, on-site and off-site evidence acquisition and seizure, forensic analysis, and reporting, while maintaining chain of custody and adhering to rules of evidence
  • Support incident response activities, intrusion events, and malware analysis
  • Evaluate emerging forensic technologies
  • Provide operational security assessments
  • Support cyber forensic and cybersecurity tasks

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance, with ability to obtain a CI polygraph after hire
  • 3–5 years of experience directly supporting national security investigations, including planning and conducting Digital Forensic Examinations in support of those investigations
  • Recognized digital forensic analysis or cybersecurity certification (EnCE, GCFE, GCFA, CISSP, or equivalent), backed by hands-on operational experience
  • Graduate of a credentialed counterintelligence special agent course (CISAC, DCAC, or an equivalent service component school) or a comparable federal law enforcement agent training program
  • Cyber Crime Investigator Certification from the Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy (DCITA), or a recognized equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline (Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or similar)
  • Completion of one or more DCITA courses: Forensic Intrusion in a Windows Environment (FIWE), Windows Forensic Examiner (WFE), or Computer Incident Responders Course (CIRC)
  • Hands-on familiarity with industry-standard forensic tools such as EnCase, AccessData FTK, Autopsy/Sleuth Kit, SIFT, or Magnet Forensics
  • Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments with limited oversight; professional maturity and self-motivation are essential
