Job description

Job Description

This position supports research projects aimed at identifying mechanisms of gut-to-brain pathways. The team in Dr. Marito Hayashi's lab aims to uncover how sensory information arises within the gastrointestinal tract and how such information is conveyed to the brain to impact physiology and behavior in health and disease.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Contribution (50%):

- Assist in various experiments taking place in the laboratory, including:

- Optimize and perform in vivo and ex vivo imaging experiments

- Optimize and perform behavioral experiments

- Maintain animal colony

- Rodent tissue dissection

- Collect, analyze, and compile data

- Maintain highly accurate records of procedure and data

Administrative Contribution (30%)

- Assist in various administrative lab operation, including:

- Placing orders

- Organizing reagents and consumables

- Maintain safety and animal protocols

Collaboration and Communication (20%)

- Communicate progress with lab members

- Deliver presentations at group meetings

- Actively contribute to group meetings

- Interact collaboratively with lab members to achieve research goals

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Biology, neuroscience, or related field and one year of research experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to work a full time in-person position

- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail

- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals

- Ability to be flexible in the working hours, including working outside of the standard workweek occasionally, if mandated by experiments

- Ability to work with mice, following safety and animal protocol

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$56,448.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$60,000.00 annual
