Job Title: Packer/CraterJob Description

This position involves supporting the safe packaging and shipment of high-value machinery and equipment. The role requires building custom crates, skids, platforms, and packaging solutions to ensure products are protected during both domestic and international shipping.

Responsibilities

• Build custom crates, skids, frames, boxes, or platforms.
• Measure and cut wood accurately for packaging solutions.
• Understand bracing, blocking, and support to protect products.
• Follow safety protocols, including PPE requirements and safe lifting procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Collaborate with shipping, receiving, production, and engineering departments.
• Communicate clearly and ask questions when unsure.
• Plan crate dimensions and determine appropriate bracing and protective packaging.

Essential Skills

• Experience in carpentry, lumber, woodworking, construction, or cabinet making.
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, such as table saws, circular saws, drills, and nail guns.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
• Basic math skills and ability to take accurate measurements.
• Strong safety mindset and accountability in work habits.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory management.
• Basic computer skills for handling labels, shipping documents, and inventory.
• Ability to lift, move, load, and unload materials safely.
• Capability to stand, bend, reach, and work in a shop or warehouse setting.
• Willingness to cross-train in other warehouse functions.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norwood, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
