Crane Operator - Lattice Boom Crawler/Drilling
Tampa-Based | Temporary Assignment in Freeport, Grand Bahama
Ready to take your crane skills international? Orion Marine Construction is hiring an experienced Crane Operator for the BMCL Freeport Harbor BulkTerminal Project in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
This is a Tampa-based position with a temporary Bahamas assignment. After the project, the employee is expected to return to a Tampa-area assignment, subject to available work and business needs.
What's in It for You?
- Pay:Competitive, based on experience
- Overtime: Time-and-a-half after 40 hours
- Schedule: Approximately five 10-hour days per week
- Overseas incentive: 15%
- 10% paid while working on the project
- Remaining 5% paid after successful completion, subject to the approved Project Terms
- Per diem: $2,800 per month for meals and incidental expenses
- Company-paid travel at the beginning and end of the assignment
- One additional round-trip ticket for every two months worked
- Eight hours of travel pay each way
- Expected return to Tampa-area operations following the project
Specific travel, housing, transportation, incentive, and per diem conditions are governed by the approved Project Terms.
What You'll Be Doing
This is not a "sit in the cab and look impressive" position. You'll be expected to:
- Operate lattice boom crawler cranes from land, barges, and marine structures.
- Support drilling and marine foundation operations.
- Handle and position casing, drill tooling, augers, leads, pile hammers, templates, and heavy materials.
- Read and apply crane load charts.
- Inspect cranes, rigging, cables, load blocks, and operating systems.
- Assist with crane assembly, maintenance, greasing, oiling, and fueling.
- Work closely with Drillers, Barge Foremen, Signal Persons, Riggers, Welders, and Laborers.
- Stop work immediately whenever conditions become unsafe.
What You Must Bring
- Current CCO Lattice Boom Crawler (LBC) certification
- At least two years of crane-operating experience on land and barges
- Documented drilling, drilled-shaft, casing, auger, or marine foundation experience
- Experience reading load charts and working with construction rigging
- Knowledge of diesel, air, hydraulic, and drop pile hammers
- Current, valid U.S. passport required for travel to and from The Bahamas
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to meet all Company and project requirements for working in The Bahamas
- Ability to pass required crane evaluations, physical examinations, drug screening, background screening, and safety training
Experience operating Manitowoc, Liebherr, Link-Belt, Kobelco, Terex, or similar crawler cranes is strongly preferred.
Physical and Safety Requirements
Candidates must be able to work outdoors in marine construction conditions; climb ladders; access barges, vessels, and docks; work at elevated heights or in confined spaces; and lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
