Position Summary
Actively greets the members and Provides a high level of member service while assisting members on the showroom sales floor. Answers member questions, demonstrates merchandise, and assists in processing member's Costco.com orders. Performs cash register and payment transactions for scratch and dent merchandise sales. Processes membership transactions for signups, renewals, upgrades, etc. Uses systems such as HighJump, Order Management System (OMS), and iSeries to provide inventory availability, order/shipment information, and delivery status to members. Educates members and potential members about purchasing on Costco.com for home delivery. Requires good communication skills, extensive product knowledge, and the ability to help members with website navigation and online account management. The Home Showroom Clerk is responsible for providing the best possible service and support to Costco members as they shop online.
Job Duties
  • Greets and communicates with members and potential members in person and by phone. Answers questions, resolves problems and explains membership options.
  • Determines member needs and provides appropriate solutions, including answering general Costco.com/product inquiries and researching complex situations regarding online orders, tracking and deliveries.
  • Tends to the sales floor consisting of cleaning displays, steel frames, appliances and electronics by sweeping, dusting, and applying glass cleaner.
  • Provides a prompt and high level member service by answering questions and demonstrating products.
  • Maintains and tests knowledge of technology using EPK and reading literature.
  • Receives accurate payment for goods, processes credit and debit card charges, and processes manual orders for "Scratch and Dent" merchandise, according to proper departmental procedures for paperwork and performance of duties.
  • Processes new memberships and membership maintenance. Keys membership information into the computer, keeps logs and paperwork, obtains supervisor approvals when necessary. Follows departmental procedures for paperwork and performance of duties.
  • Issues membership cards using computer, camera, and automated card printer. Issues temporary cards by researching membership information. Issues employee name badges.
  • Keys credit card applications, conforms to credit card company practices, for verifications, confidentiality, access, and discretion.
  • Observes and ensures correct product signage.
  • Sets up display models, assembling as necessary, while following all safety and security procedures.
  • Compiles reports when necessary and performs miscellaneous operational tasks as needed.
  • Uses the eCommerce Order Management System (OMS) to verify order statuses and order payment information.
  • Uses the HighJump system to verify delivery status and shipping updates.
  • Creates order forms and enters data using Google, Gmail Apps, Microsoft Excel and AS400.
  • Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Performs related tasks, set-up, and closing duties for the department.
  • Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery.
  • Assists with department duties as necessary.
  • Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
