Job description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Software Engineer, Warehousing to take a significant role in designing, developing, and delivering robust and scalable software solutions. In this role you will role drives the availability and integration of warehousing systems by managing the Blue Yonder (BY) Cloud WMS environment and its microservices layer. You will resolves production incidents through technical fixes and collaborates with the development team to ensure long-term system stability, scalability, and supportability.
  • This position is remote

  • This role is an Individual Contributor

A day in the life as a Senior Engineer, Warehousing...

  • Serve as a technical expert for the Blue Yonder (BY) Cloud WMS

  • Take ownership of production stability by resolving complex technical issues and ensuring the system performs according to business requirements

  • Develop, modify, and support the critical microservices integration layer handling data transmission between legacy core systems (AS400) and the BY Cloud WMS. Write clean, tested code to optimize data transformations, message routing, and API endpoints

  • Monitor, trace, and troubleshoot high-volume message flows across the enterprise. Utilize observability and log aggregation tools like Grafana and Sumo Logic to build dashboards, analyze logs, isolate payload errors, and rapidly resolve data synchronization issues

  • Proactively identify and execute code-level enhancements and process optimizations within the support and integration lifecycle. You will not just "fix" issues but evolve the software and microservices to prevent future disruptions and improve overall system throughput

  • Act as the subject matter expert for how Material Handling Systems (MHE) and core ERPs communicate with warehousing software

  • Collaborate with the development team during the design phase of new projects. Provide expert input to ensure new code, APIs, and microservices are "support-ready"—advocating for better logging, structured telemetry, easier error-handling, and efficient database performance from an operational standpoint

  • Manage deployment processes and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring programs and microservices are implementing safely across cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) to maintain environment stability and zero operational downtime

  • Perform software programming across multiple technologies to construct and modify applications (Blue Yonder, Logistyx, integration microservices, and legacy systems). Create effective, tested, and documented code that aligns with long-term architectural goals

  • Monitor and maintain cloud-based applications by utilizing native platform tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) alongside enterprise logging to identify performance bottlenecks, resolve infrastructure alerts, and ensure resources are utilized effectively to meet uptime requirements

What youll bring to the table...

  • Understanding of Blue Yonder (BY) WMS environments. Strong grasp of microservices architecture, API data formats (JSON, XML), and asynchronous message routing patterns

  • Proficiency in production monitoring, log analysis, and building telemetry visibility using Sumo Logic and Grafana (or similar APM tools) to track distributed transactions

  • Ability to conceptualize and map how legacy data structures (e.g., AS400 files/messages) translate into modern, decoupled cloud events and microservices

  • Ability to take high-level tasks and complex business requirements and produce efficient, stable, and documented outcomes across both code adjustments and infrastructure troubleshooting

  • Strong communicator effective in conveying technical status, integration risks, and improvement strategies to business owners and logistics leadership. Ability to explain why a permanent microservice or code fix is superior to a temporary workaround

  • Provide excellent customer service to system users, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude toward system performance, data integrity, and reliability

  • Familiarity with the risks and best practices of deploying code, microservice updates, and configuration changes to a live, production cloud-warehouse environment

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a demonstrated progression of responsibilities

  • 5+ years of software experience, with a significant portion dedicated to the support, development, and technical optimization of Blue Yonder/JDA WMS environments

  • Experience leading technical aspects of projects

  • Strong proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks
