Security Officer

Shift/Hours: Day Shift (6:00AM - 2:00PM) Saturday, Sunday & Monday then Afternoon Shift (2:00PM - 10:00PM) on Tuesday & Wednesday

Who we are looking for:

Atkore, a recipient of a Great Place to Work© certification and a Top Workplaces USA award, is searching for a Security Officer to be based out of our company headquarters in Harvey, IL.

What you’ll do:

The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the site by patrolling the property, monitoring surveillance cameras, controlling access to the facility, and responding to alarms. The officer will also be responsible for providing first aid to injured employees and must be proficient in creating detailed incident reports. This person will be expected to abide by all safety expectations and wear PPE when appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Patrol the manufacturing plant, warehouse, and office building to prevent and identify unauthorized access, damages, hazards, and breaches of security.
  • Identify and investigate any suspicious incidents or behavior. Document all incidents with a detailed report and make the appropriate internal and external notifications.
  • Monitor and control access of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against unauthorized entry.
  • Create and distribute employee identification badges and parking permits.
  • Monitor CCTV surveillance cameras and respond as necessary.
  • Maintain a visible presence among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Complete reports of daily activities and special incidents by recording observations, gathering information, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses.
  • Monitor emergency alarm systems and respond when necessary.
  • Call local police and emergency agencies as needed.
  • Respond to disturbances or call for assistance.
  • Identify, confront, and report company rules violations.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide the necessary assistance. Create detailed reports of injuries and medical assistance provided.
  • Conduct inspections of security systems and equipment. Report any noncompliance and initiate corrective actions.
  • Maintain clear communications with the use of a two-way radios and telephones.
  • Available to work overtime when needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

What you’ll bring:

  • High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university highly desired. Military experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • One year of corporate security experience is preferred.
  • EMT certification is preferred but not required, otherwise MFR certification is required within 6 months.
  • Experience writing detailed reports.
  • Outstanding observational skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in an emergency and during high stress situations.
  • Maintains a professional attitude when working with difficult situations or agitated individuals.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks, strong time management skills and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated individual.
  • Comfortable working in a team-based environment.
  • Supervisory experience preferred, but not required.

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Gain an understanding of the facility layout, departments, processes and business flow.
  • Gain an understanding of your role, your team and department, and the responsibility you will hold.
  • Gain an understanding of the training materials and processes your role requires.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Understand your role as it relates to security patrols, post assignments, emergency response.
  • Understand Know leadership within the corporate organization, site management and key personnel who work regularly with security.
  • Understand all posts and assignments and able to respond all requests for assistance.
  • Understand Genetec Security Center software and how to complete certain functions and tasks.

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Become an embedded member of the security team and have full understanding of all security post orders, guidelines and policies.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $32,320 - $44,440. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
