Retail Security Officer
Location: Peabody, MA
Pay Rate: $18.03/hour
Shifts Available:
Part-Time Officer
- Friday evening 3P-11P, Saturday evening 3P-11P, Sunday split 11A-7P or 3P-11P
- 16-29 hours per week (or more) ability to pick up additional hours as available.
- Rate: $18.03 an hour
Full-Time Officer
- Saturday - Wednesday Evenings
- 40 hours per week
- Rate: $18.03 an hour
Full-time Officer
- Sunday Mid, Monday-Thursday Evenings
- 32-40 hours per week
- Rate: $18.03 an hour
The Retail Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for shoppers, tenants, employees, and visitors within a high-traffic retail mall. This position requires strong customer service skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond professionally to security incidents, emergencies, and day-to-day operational needs. Officers conduct routine patrols, enforce property policies, deter criminal activity, and work closely with mall management, tenants, and local emergency responders.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous security, law enforcement, military, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license (if required by site).
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required state security licenses and certifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent observation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working with security technology, including CCTV, access control, and report-writing software.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a large retail property.
- Ability to climb stairs and patrol multiple levels of the facility.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of responding quickly during emergency situations.
Work Environment:
- Large indoor/outdoor retail shopping center.
- Fast-paced environment with heavy pedestrian traffic.
- May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
- Frequent interaction with the public, retail tenants, contractors, and emergency responders.
