Job description

Protective Security Officer - FPS - Arkansas (Incumbent Force)

Responsibilities

  • Protect personnel and property professionally
  • Interact courteously with the public and visitors
  • Screen and process visitors efficiently
  • Identify, report, and respond to rule violations (including detention if necessary)
  • Conduct internal and external foot patrols
  • Perform traffic control duties
  • Operate x-ray equipment with high accuracy
  • Respond to alarms and emergency situations
  • Secure entrances and exits during emergencies
  • Maintain control of keys and lock systems
  • Communicate via radio or company-issued phone
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and post orders
  • Observe, report, and document incidents
  • Provide first aid/CPR as needed
  • Wear required protective gear, including body armor
  • Maintain required training, fitness, and weapons qualifications
  • Follow safety protocols and support improvement programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular, in-person attendance

Qualifications

  • Be a United States citizen;
    • Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number
  • Experience
    • A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or law enforcement experience; or
    • A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.S. Armed Forces Component.
  • Education
    • Received a High School Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
    • Received a General Equivalency Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
    • A minimum of 60 credit hours, in a related field, from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
    • Successful completion of a federal/state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer's standard training course that may result in a law enforcement appointment
  • Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English. Must be able to pass an English Language Assessment Test.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age.

Training Requirements

This position requires in-service training, in accordance with the guidance and direction of the Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Service.

  • 36-Hour FPS Basic/Refresher
  • 32-Hour FPS Initial Weapons
  • 8-Hour FPS Orientation
  • First Aid CPR AED
  • Arkansas Commissioned Security Officer (CSO) license
