Job description

Job Title: Construction Engineer

Job Description

As a Construction Engineer, you will provide on-site oversight and management of construction projects. You will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets. Coordination with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders is crucial, along with conducting field inspections and preparing detailed reports. You will also review and interpret engineering plans and specifications to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements while supporting project documentation and progress tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site oversight and management of construction projects.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct field inspections and prepare detailed reports.
  • Review and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project documentation and progress tracking.
  • Communicate effectively with county and Department of Transportation (DOT) clients.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in civil engineering, construction inspection, and construction management.
  • Familiarity with IDOT, Tollway, and reconstruction projects such as highway, roadway, and bridge repair.
  • Proficiency in project documentation, record-keeping, and compliance tracking.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently when needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with tollway and IDOT projects.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification.

Work Environment

This role requires flexibility to work on a night shift for the first four months, from 7 PM to 4/5 AM, transitioning to a day shift afterward. You will have the opportunity to engage in both field and office work, with a potential hybrid role allowing for 50% office presence. The majority of projects are IDOT-related, with potential future work with CDOT and county projects. You will be provided with a company vehicle (2023 or newer) for personal use, along with a gas card and covered maintenance. Each project has a dedicated field office, reducing the need to work from the Lisle office. The team comprises several representatives and inspectors, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $61651.00 - $98737.60/yr.
