Job description

LOCATION: KFOR-TV

POSITION: Writer

REPORTS TO: Managing Editor

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the writer/associate producer is to write scripts and gather information for highly produced newscasts and digital content. Also, to assist with Assignment Desk duties. Currently, this is a temporary position with the potential to become a regular full-time position.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:

Writes news stories, produces content, for newscasts, KFOR.com and social media platforms. Rolls TelePrompTer for daily newscasts Ability to work under extreme pressure & deadlines Must keep up with local, state, national & international events. Watch local TV news. Must work individually, as well as part of a team Assist on Assignment Desk as needed. Must be able to hear scanners, answer phones and direct crews to news events. Must be flexible regarding schedule. Weekends, overnights, holidays, etc.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRMENTS:

Abilityto type quickly Operate police scanner Handle news telephones and other such equipment.
