Construction Safety Officer

Newport News, VA | $75,000–$85,000/year

This role is for a construction safety professional who understands the realities of mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing construction and knows how to keep field teams safe without slowing down the work.

You’ll work alongside project managers, superintendents, and field crews to identify hazards, conduct inspections, lead safety meetings, investigate incidents, and keep projects compliant with OSHA and client requirements.

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain Activity Hazard Analyses and Site-Specific Safety Plans
• Conduct job-site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
• Lead toolbox talks, pre-task planning meetings, and daily safety briefings
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
• Develop corrective action plans
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and project-specific safety requirements
• Conduct employee safety orientations and training
• Maintain safety documentation and compliance records
• Work directly with project managers, superintendents, and field crews

What you’ll need:

• 1–3 years of construction safety experience
• Construction safety experience specifically within mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing projects
• Experience developing Activity Hazard Analyses and Site-Specific Safety Plans
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction requirements
• Experience conducting job-site inspections and hazard assessments
• Strong communication and organizational skills
