Job description

Quality Technician – Lab
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL 60089
Pay: $28–30/hour
Shift: 6:00am–6:00pm OR 6:00pm–6:00am (2/2/3 rotating schedule)

Position Overview:
The Quality Technician will be a hands-on lab and quality support professional working in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role focuses on microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, dosimetry lab activities, and quality documentation to ensure products and controlled environments meet strict regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical or regulated lab experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-driven quality environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform dosimetry lab activities including releasing, pairing, dose tray handling, report generation, and cleaning
  • Conduct microbiological testing including bioburden, endotoxin, and media testing
  • Perform environmental monitoring using viable air samplers and related lab equipment
  • Support product inspection, sampling, and quality control testing of incoming materials and finished goods
  • Assist with out-of-box audits (OBA), purge material handling, and inspection processes
  • Identify, escalate, and investigate OOS (out of specification) and alert conditions
  • Support corrective action investigations as needed
  • Maintain accurate lab records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Ensure compliance with controlled environment procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and report environmental excursions in controlled spaces
  • Work with cross-functional teams including quality, operations, and engineering
  • Use Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting (LIMS experience a plus)
  • Follow detailed procedures and maintain high levels of accuracy in all testing activities
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required (technical training preferred)
  • 4–5+ years of lab experience required (clinical, microbiology, or regulated lab environment strongly preferred)
  • Strong experience in microbiology testing or controlled lab environments
  • Familiarity with GLP, GMP, USP, ISO, or similar regulatory standards preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation (GDP experience required)
  • Ability to work independently once trained with minimal supervision
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills in a lab environment
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (LIMS experience a plus)
  • Ability to perform basic math including fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule (day or night)
