As an independent, not-for-profit organization, L’Alliance New York’s mission is to provide our members and students with engaging French language classes and audacious multi-disciplinary programming that celebrates the diversity of francophone cultures and creativity around the world.
L’Alliance New York is internationally known for offering the largest selection of fully-immersive French language courses for students aged one to 101, and for its renowned cultural programming including the annual Bastille Day celebration that takes place on New York's famed Madison Avenue, attracting over 50,000 visitors each year; the Crossing The Line arts and performance festival that engages NYC cultural institutions in bringing dynamic international artists to audiences; Animation First, the biggest animation festival in the U.S; and the Comic Arts Fest, celebrating the intersection of American and francophone comic arts. 
Position Overview
L’Alliance New York is seeking caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Summer Camp Assistant Teachers to support its Language Center Summer Camp program in Manhattan.

This temporary, in-person role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working with children and want to contribute to a fun, safe, and engaging summer experience rooted in language, creativity, and culture. Assistant Teachers play an essential role in supporting lead teachers, helping children throughout the day, and ensuring that camp routines, transitions, and activities run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher during daily camp activities, workshops, and transitions.
  • Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, including outings.
  • Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization of materials.
  • Help children during snack, lunch, rest time, and daily routines.
  • Support a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all campers.
  • Help monitor attendance and assist with arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Support children’s engagement, participation, and well-being throughout the day.
  • Communicate any concerns or important observations to the lead teacher or camp leadership.
  • Follow all camp safety procedures and internal protocols.

Experience & Qualifications
 
  • Must hold valid U.S. work authorization.
  • Be a French native speaker or equivalent level.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism.
  • Ability to support routines, transitions, and group supervision.
  • Previous experience with children in camps, schools, afterschool, babysitting, or similar settings preferred.
