Job description

Position Summary

This leadership role is responsible for driving enterprise-wide Data & AI governance policies, standards, and control frameworks that enable trusted data usage, responsible AI adoption, and effective risk management across the organization.

The ideal candidate combines Data Governance expertise with the ability to translate governance strategy into practical controls, processes, and standards that can be embedded across business and technology organizations. This role will play a key part in driving governance-by-design principles while balancing innovation, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and operationalize enterprise Data & AI governance policies, standards, and control requirements.
  • Define governance frameworks, implementation guidance, decision models, and governance operating procedures.
  • Establish governance guardrails that support consistent adoption while enabling business flexibility and innovation.
  • Partner with Data Owners, Data Domain Leaders, Technology teams, AI practitioners, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, and business stakeholders.
  • Drive alignment between governance requirements, enterprise controls, and regulatory expectations.
  • Promote governance-by-design principles across data, analytics, and AI initiatives.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of governance controls across enterprise platforms and processes.
  • Develop governance education, awareness, and adoption programs.
  • Monitor governance effectiveness through reporting, metrics, and control oversight.
  • Influence organizational change and governance maturity through collaboration and partnership rather than direct authority.
  • Support Responsible AI governance initiatives, including transparency, explainability, fairness, accountability, and lifecycle oversight.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience leading Data Governance, AI Governance, IT Governance, Data Management, Technology Risk, or related governance programs.
  • Strong experience developing governance frameworks, policies, standards, controls, and operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to operationalize governance requirements within large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience partnering across business, technology, compliance, legal, risk, and control functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to drive enterprise outcomes through influence and collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise governance, risk management, and control frameworks.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, privacy, and data quality platforms such as Collibra, Ataccama, Informatica, or similar technologies.
  • AI Governance or Responsible AI experience.
  • IT Governance experience.
  • Data Operations, Data Quality, or Data Observability experience.
  • DevOps Governance experience.
  • OpenTelemetry experience.
  • Power BI reporting and governance metrics experience.
  • Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, or other regulated industry experience.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
