NOW HIRING : Coaxial Technician (Install/Service) Albuquerque, NM

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico (field-based; local travel)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm (W2) | Start: ASAP
Pay: $22.00 $27.00/hr DOE + overtime potential

About the Role

Great Basin Staffing is hiring an Experienced Coaxial Technician in Albuquerque to handle residential/light commercial installs, service calls, and troubleshooting for internet, TV, and voice. Youll work independently on daily routes, diagnose RF/signal issues, and deliver clean, customer-friendly installs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install & repair internet, TV, and phone services (drops, wall plates, CPE, set-tops).

  • Diagnose signal issues and correct RF levels at tap, ground block, and CPE using a signal level meter (SLM).

  • Troubleshoot modems, routers, Wi-Fi, inside wiring, splitters, fittings, and premises electronics.

  • Perform new outlet runs, re-terms, re-wires; ensure proper grounding/bonding and weatherproofing.

  • Outside plant interface: set/replace aerial taps at pole or pedestal; verify tap values and return path.

  • Work at height: safe bucket-truck operation (where applicable) and professional ladder work (extensions up to 28); follow ladder placement, tie-off, and fall-prevention practices.

  • Complete activations/provisioning and basic account/equipment sync per MSO standards.

  • Maintain inventory & truck stock; track materials/returns accurately.

  • Communicate clearly with customers/dispatch; document work with photos, readings, and closeout notes.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years recent experience as a Coax/Cable Technician (install/service).

  • Strong RF fundamentals (forward/return path, tilt, MER/BER/SNR basics).

  • Proficiency with SLM, leakage detection, and basic TDR/toning tools.

  • Ability to read work orders, maps, and basic prints; follow MSO standards.

  • Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and acceptable MVR.

  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders and (where assigned) in a bucket, as well as in attics/crawl spaces and varied weather; lift 55+ lbs.

  • Professional customer communication and neat workmanship.

Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • NCTI/SCTE coursework or certs; pole-climb competency; DOT medical card (or ability to obtain).

  • Basic fiber familiarity (ONTs, light levels) for mixed HFC/FTTH areas.

  • Bilingual (EN/ES).

Schedule & Working Conditions
  • Full-time, field-based routes; some evening/weekend work for appointments and cut windows.

  • Indoor/outdoor environments; frequent ladder and overhead work; moderate-to-loud noise.

Pay & Benefits (W2)
  • $22.00 $27.00/hr DOE + OT; weekly pay.
