Job description

Job Summary:
Motorola Solutions is a global community focused on enhancing safety through technology. The Field Service Technician Co-Op role offers hands-on experience in supporting RF communications systems and technical support for public safety customers in the Mid Atlantic region.
Responsibilities:
• Play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of mission critical field activities and optimizing efficiency by utilizing academic principles gained in educational courses in a dynamic professional setting.
• Demonstrate an aptitude for Networking and/or Radio Frequency
• Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
• Maintain and document complex communications systems.
• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
• Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
• Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Must be a current student attending a 2 year program or a 4 year program at a college, university, or technical school.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
• Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
Preferred:
• Preference will be given to Prince George Community College students.
• Actively pursuing a certification in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1
• Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN)
• Computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
• R.F. interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
• Standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
• Logging recording systems.
• Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred.
