The University of Miami/UHealth Department of OBGYN has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Supervisor, Nursing (H) to work in Miami, FL.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Works with leadership to determine the optimal allocation of staff, per shift and on each unit.
  • Serves as administrative authority for the smooth functioning of all units on assigned shift.
  • Notifies administrator, associate administrator, nurse manager or other relevant staff of urgent concerns during the shift.
  • Receives employee, resident, and family grievances, and refers information to appropriate supervising staff.
  • Completes evaluations for employees on shift.
  • Recommends establishment or revisions of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance to ensure legal compliance and high-quality standards.
  • Assists with annual budget preparation by identifying supply and equipment.
  • Reviews schedule to assure that staffing is in place.
  • Makes rounds on operational clinical units to supervise and monitor work performance in terms of patient care, staff regulations, and effective service.
  • Maintains a high level of familiarity with systems that support clinical and business functionality.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Works with the Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility Center.
  • Manage RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants.
  • Educate patients in all areas of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
  • Assist the physicians in the out-patient clinical practice. Performing such tasks as veni-puncture, finger-sticks, and injections.
  • Performs spectrum of services provided within the practice to include but not limited to:
  • Scheduling appointments for patients in accordance with practice policy
  • Scheduling referral appointments to physicians, diagnostic testing, and Gyn Procedures in a manner to assure patient compliance.
  • Adhere to Gyn nursing model directives.
  • Triage patient calls for patient counseling, obtaining refills of prescriptions, physician orders, cycle initiation and obtaining lab results to review with physician.
  • Inventory and order medical and laboratory supplies for the practice.
  • Assist the physicians with in-vitro fertilizations and inseminations, biopsies and ultrasounds.
  • Assist with Oocyte retrieval and Embryo transfer.
  • Assist the physicians with all surgical procedures performed at the Center.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, weight, temperature, and height.
  • Administer IV therapy and medication, draw blood, teach patients, and perform other clinical procedures or processes as assigned.
  • Maintain logs for crash cart, AED, and narcotic medications.
  • Follow and adhere to all infectious control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update all Joint commission requirements.
  • Review and report laboratory test results.
  • Will need to work weekend sessions as per schedule.
  • Participate in the monthly on-call schedule as assigned.
  • Provide patient education in IUI, IVF, FET cycles, Graduation and Missed ab.
  • Complete the Stim Shift for IVF-FET as required per embryology lab and CDC between the 72h the patients start on cycle.
  • Responsible to sign as a witness for IVF/Embryo freezing/oocyte freezing/ FET consents in person in the office.
  • Collaborate with physicians in developing and implementing a treatment plan appropriate to individual patients.
  • Place patient information in SharePoint requesting confirmation for embryos, eggs, donors and/or patient's frozen sperm in office.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required
  • Valid State of Florida RN License required
