Job description

Temporary Program Assistants provide support for events, programs, and camps. This staff member will receive hands-on experience in a wide range of programs and events. Most of the shifts will be on nights and weekends, but opportunities to help with summer day camps may also arise.

Must be at least 16 to apply. Must have reliable transportation and aninterest in being outdoors and working with children.


Temporary Program Assistants generally work approximately 5 - 15 hours per week. During summer camp weeks there may be an opportunity to exceed 15 hours (per week).

JOB DESCRIPTION

SPECIFIC DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain accurate programrecords through attendance and record keeping for all programs, as assigned.
  • Help conduct a well-rounded program to meet the recreational needs of the children.
  • Implement a schedule of activities, games,crafts and special events to provide a fun experience for children in the parks. Demonstrate, lead and help teach activities.
  • Offer ideas for improvements to existing programs.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie between program participants, staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with preparation of items necessary for each program or event.
  • Set-up and clean-up programs, including alitter sweep and safety check at the park.

GENERAL DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS.

  • Be able to learn quickly and listen to instructions.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining a safe, clean andcontrolled.
  • Enforce all park rules and regulations.
  • By setting an example, encourage proper use of parks andparkequipment.
  • Follow CWPD brand guidelines.
  • Deliver fun, healthy and outstanding park experiences that connects the community with the outdoors.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to learn quickly and listen to instructions.
  • Ability to work in group settings.
  • Reliabletransportation to various park sites.
  • Experience with public speaking.
