Job Summary
Temporary, part-time/Substitute Child Development Specialist for the Child Development Center. Provide care for children in the program.
Essential Functions
Maintain a healthy and safe learning environment for children in accordance with licensing, accreditation and other standards of best practice. Develop positive relationships with children.
Facilitate a positive, inclusive classroom climate for varied groups of children. Serve as a role model for the Early childhood Education students, provide assistance to the students as they implement skills learned in the coursework, assist students with problem solving, and give direction to individual students.
Observe, plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate, evidence-based daily learning opportunities to meet the needs of children ages birth to 5 years. Practice ongoing assessment of children's development and learning using a variety of assessment tools as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related.
Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with varied groups of students, children, and staff.
Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time and physical space.
Ability to meet state licensing requirements, including: DCI check, Child Abuse Registry check, medical exam with update every three years, etc. Capability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related area.
Knowledge of Project Approach, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support and Program for Infant Toddler Care. Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training. Universal Precaution Training.
Infant, Child and Adult CPR/First Aid.
Work Schedule
Varied partial and full day schedule for fall and spring semester.
